The World Is Not Enough (1999) WARNING - SPOILERS BELOW.
The Digest In this installment, we find James going up against a man named Renard (Robert Carlyle) who has no senses. Agent 009 was sent to kill him, but when 009 shot Renard in the head the bullet lodged in his medulla oblongata slowly deteriorating his senses until eventually he'll die. Meanwhile Renard is wreaking havoc because ... well because he can. The reason he was shot in the first place was because he kidnapped Elektra King, (Sophie Marceau) the daughter of a powerful man who was also a friend of M's. Renard resurfaces and "M" feels that the daughter's life is in danger once again. The daughter runs her father's oil business. Renard begins sabotaging the oilfields, so of course James has to stop him. Over the course of his investigation, he finds out that Renard has taken an interest in a nuclear disarmament site run by Dr. Christmas Jones (Denise Richards). He goes to check it out and discovers that Renard has stolen some plutonium. James must, once again, save the planet and the only one who can help him is Dr. Jones. The Dish This movie was filled with bad acting, a horrible plot, and poor dialogue. And I loved every minute of it. Let's be real. All 007 flicks are just plain bad. This one was probably the worse one, but I'd see it again and I don't know why. I guess James Bond movies are a staple. You can count on Christmas, taxes, death and James Bond. How something so bad became entrenched in our cinema society is beyond me, but just like the other sheep, I flock to see James Bond without fail. Of course he gets all of the girls, except for Moneypenny, and of course he saves the world. You know... one day James' "Mr. Winky" is gonna just fall right off. He sleeps with everybody. Q does not disappoint us with his toys. There is a cool boat and a sweet BMW, but even that wasn't enough to rescue Bond #19. The Directive You know... TBS routinely has James Bond Marathons. You can wait until then.
