Not Another Teen Movie (2001) The Digest The students at John Hughes High are like any other students. The popular jock, the pretty ugly girl, the obsessed best friend, the cocky blonde guy, the token black guy, and the bitchy cheerleader... you name the stereotype and they are all present. Janey (Chyler Leigh) is dirt poor and dying to go to art school in France. Little does she know that while she is painting to her hearts content, the the captain of the football team - Jake (Chris Evans) has accepted a bet that he can make her prom queen. Janey has to deal with that; Jake's ex-girlfriend and head cheerleader - Pricilla (Jamie Pressly); her drunken father; and finally, her little brother who is desperately trying to lose his virginity. Can Janey meet all of these challenges and still keep her sanity? The Dish I sure hope she kept her sanity because I lost mine watching this movie. The only thing worse than parodies are bad parodies. This movie was just horrible. While I didn't feel slimed like I did after Scary Movie, I still felt icky. It's not like I didn't "get" the movie. I've seen every single one of the movies they satirized. I have to admit that I'm ashamed of the fact that the only time I laughed happen to be the most racially offensive scene in the whole movie. I really wish they would stop making these lowbrow "comedies'. They make me ill. They aren't even funny, I don't understand how they keep making all the money they pull in. It's just nutty. I guess the goal has become to see who can get the most tasteless jokes crammed into 90 minutes. The Directive This movie was a waste of celluloid. Avoid it at all costs.
"Not Another Teen Movie" perfectly sums up how I feel about it.
