It's 1799 and Ichabod Crane is a New York city constable. He fancies himself as a forensics specialist, but is met with opposition from the local judges. They don't feel the need to give autopsies and look for clues that way. Ichabod is adamant about the need to have more thorough investigations. The elder judges tired of hearing him argue, give Ichabod a break. They tell him that he must prove himself and his outlandish ideas by completing a task in the small upstate New York town of Sleepy Hollow. It seems that some fool is killing people by chopping their heads off and it's up to Ichabod to find the killer and solve the murders.
He travels to the small, yet prosperous, farming community of Sleepy Hollow. He is welcomed by all of the towns elders. They are relieved that someone has come to help them rid of the town of "The Headless Horseman" Ichabod is mildly amused that the townspeople are insistent that the killer is really a ghost. He is less amused to find out the killer steals the victim's head.
This was not "Disney's Sleepy Hollow", that's for dang sure. I really enjoyed it, but then again, I happen to dig Tim Burton. He is sometimes a bit too weird for those who don't quite understand his style. This might make it difficult for some of y'all to appreciate this take on "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow".
Overall, I really enjoyed it. It was entertaining and funny. It had a few rough spots were it dragged and I mentioned earlier, it's kinda gory and gross at times Not to mention Christopher Walken plays the Headless Horsemen, that alone is enough to see it, that and Christina Ricci is back in her element.
Sleepy Hollow is a murder mystery with a little romance in the background. It's also pretty gory. If you have a weak stomach you might want to pass this one up.
Y'all are getting on my nerves sending me nasty and rude mail saying that I ruined the movie by identifying the Headless Horseman. Listen up. It's on the damn web site. It's on the damn trailers. It's in the damn commercials. The man was on Leno and Letterman skinnin' and grinnin and said he was the Headless Horseman. Johnny Deep and Christina Ricci announced it on "The Rosie O'Donnell" show. The spoiler is not that he is the Headless Horseman, but why he is the Headless Horseman. Furthermore, the next man (women never send nasty-grams. Imagine that...) who sends me a foul message is getting a copy of Linux sent to him 100 times. Once you can use your mail again, you can mail me an apology. The Diva got a 'tude.
