The Digest

Shawn Spenser has a photographic memory. He honed this skill at the insistence of his father, a police officer. When he was younger, he hated the fact that his father constantly pushed him to pay attention to his surroundings and recite back everything he's seen. But this unique ability saves his bacon when he gets in trouble with the law

You see, Shawn is a slacker. He just refuses to keep a job, but he sees the opportunity to make some money by turning in criminals and collecting the reward money. This plan, however has a little problem with it - he is too right and they begin to suspect that he is actually involved in the crime. So what would anyone do in this situation? I don't know, but Shawn quickly states that he is a Psychic.

Now he has to prove that he really is a Psychic. The only way he can do this is solve the crime. If he doesn't then he's going to jail himself.

With the reluctant help of his best friend, Gus (Dulé Hill), Shawn sets out to solve the crime and keep himself out of jail.

The Dish

We knew we were going to just love this when we first saw the trailer. And we were right. I love quirky characters. And Shawn is indeed quirky, but who I love more is Gus. He gets so exasperated with Shawn's goofiness and most of the best lines come out of his mouth when he is disgusted with Shawn. The one exception is when Gus saw a dead body and ran screaming like a girly-man. I died laughing.

Not to mention that the irony of the title is not lost on me. Anyone who has watched Eddie Murphy's stand up Delirious knows exactly what I mean.

Speaking of one-liners - I think the writing really makes the show. Half the characters are pretty disposable. I only cared about watching Shawn and Gus banter back and forth. I don't even think I really cared much about the actual crime. Perhaps as the season continues, I will find more interest in the storyline, if not what would really be the point of watching it?

The Directive

Give it a looksee. It's awfully funny.
