The Digest

Annie Braddock (Scarlett Johansson) has just graduated from NYU with honors, holding a B.A. in finance with a minor in anthropology. Her mother (Donna Murphy) , who has sacrificed everything to put her through college wants Annie to get a nice high paying job in the finance world. She wants to feel as if her hard work and sacrifices weren't for naught.

This plan is railroaded when in central park, she stumbles across another career path - being a Nanny.

The pay is good. The work seems easy and due to her education, she is heavily sought after. She settles for a five-year-old boy, Grayer (Nicholas Reese Art). Grayer's mother, Mrs. X (Laura Linney), is so consumed with her other activities, that she doesn't have the time for Grayer. Grayer needs her and she stays for the sake of him, even though she is practically a slave and no longer has a life. The cute guy upstairs (Chris Evans) tries to get her to prioritize; her mother doesn't even know about the job; her best friend Lynette (Alicia keys)believes that she is wasting her time, yet it is her love of Grayer that that keeps her shackled to the X's But is that enough?.

The Dish

I thought this was so cute! I love how the incorporate Annie's anthropology background. My biggest surprise was Alicia Keys. I don't know why, she went to a performing arts school, so it should be no surprise that she can act. but what was foreign to me was the lack caring and concern the mothers in the movie had for their children. I'm not against having a nanny, but I think nannies are there to help you parent, not parent in your place when you are present. I know some people travel for weeks on end and need to employ nannies, but when they are home, they should be mother of the year. Just my opinion.
