The Digest

Frank Martin (Jason Statham) , it seems has retired. He is enjoying life fishing with his dear friend and police inspector, Tarconi (François Berléand). But as you would expect, his retirement doesn’t last long. A job he refused and passed on to another driver comes crashing through his home. He is quickly forced to now take on this job and deliver a package. The "package" is a careless and carefree Ukranian named Valentina (Natalya Rudankova).

He hasn’t been given any information aother than to drive and wait for phone calls. The man holding the strings is Johnson (Robert Knepper), a surly man without any patience for questions. Nor does he take no for an answer. To ensure compliance, he slap exploding wrist bans on both Frank and Valentina. If they move too far from the car, they blow up along with the car. The Dish

For 7 weeks, I’ve been sick. Bronchitis, then Pneumonia. This was only the second movie that I’ve left the house for and halfway through the movie I said to myself, “I could have stayed home and tried to breathe.” I mean really. I have no idea when this movie went off the track. I like Statham. He’s a man’s man. I don’t see an Oscar in his future, but that’s not why we watch him, is it? We watch him to see him drive the hell out of a car and beat the crap out of somebody. In that regard, the movie was a raging success. But Lord deliver me from Natalya Rudankova. I know Luc Beeson likes to tap unknown/little known Models for his movies. But if she was the BEST choice for the role, then Lord help us all. I mean seriously. I’m all for giving people a chance. And I’m sure with time, she’ll get better, just not on my time. Do some regional theater, take some classes. Please, for the love of humanity. run to the end. Yet, these studios keep making flimsy movies from flimsy source material to begin with.

The Directive

Look, I’d love to be able to recommend this. The car chases and stunts are very cool, but not cool enough to suffer through the plot when he isn’t driving 150 miles an hour.

3BC Ratings

I wanted to be transported out of the theater.
