The Digest A space craft crash land in a small Colorado forest. A world away A predator packs up as much as he can in 5 minutes and then jumps into a ship and heads to the forest in question. A boy and his father are hunting in that forest and do not return. How does all of this intersect?
Well, the previous movie shows the Predator ship taking off for its home world, but the predator carries a face hugger within him and it hatches mid-flight and crashes. The crash releases all the face huggers that were inside the ship and they scramble out into open.
The Predators home base sees the situation and immediately sends off to what amounts to a cleaner. And well the boy and father are the first victim. The next victims are pretty much the entire town of nearly 5,000. Resident bad boy and ex-con, Dallas (Steven Pasquale) and his brother, Ricky (Johnny Lewis); Kelly (Rieko Aylesworth), a fierce soldier just home from Iraq; and Sheriff Eddie Morales (John Ortiz). This ragtag group of townspeople seem to be the best defense against these creatures that we know can kill anything. But what happens when the Predator lands? Do they become bait or allies and is it too late?
The Dish I dont know why this is called Alien Vs. Predator, quite honestly. There wasnt much of that. You know the first Predator and first 2 Aliens were thoughtful movies. They had actual engage stories. They werent a set up just to kill humans in the most horrific way possible. And they certainly didnt stoop to killing children and impregnating pregnant women. Yes, you read that right, women essentially in labor having face hugger eggs shoved down their throats. Gross. And this accelerated gestation period takes away one of the key elements of the suspense.
To say I was disappointed is an understatement. There was nothing in this movie to make me want to watch it. The shock value of it came and went when they killed the first 4 victims. Then removing the suspense and finally the interaction with the predator being minor, I was pretty much done with it.
