Season 3 Finale Airdate: 4/10/12

The Digest

There is so much going on in this episode it’s easy to get confused. The death of Trooper Tom sends Raylan on manhunt after  Quarles (Neal McDonough).  He is determined more than ever to catch him. And he can’t catch him soon enough, by this final episode Quarles is deep in ddebt and deep into his drug addiction. His desperation means that he will do anything to get back home to Detroit and in the good graces of  his Boss. Including-  taking a mother and her two sons hostage. That’s not enough of “his crazy” he takes one of his hostages with and heads straight to Limehouse (Mykelti Williamson). He wants $500,000 to buy his way back into his family and hopes that  his boss Theo Tonin (Adam Arkin) will forgive and things will be back to normal.

During the confrontation Quarles is distracted when he is accused of killing the trooper. This momentary confusion allows Errol (Demetrius Grosse) to take advantage of the situation and he fires of a round at Quarles and quickly being mortally wounded himself. Raylan steps in and begins to wrestle with Quarles’ gun and before we know what’s happening, Raylan is standing there holding Quarles’ arm while his body is on the floor. It seems that Limehouse really is handy with a butcher knife.

In the end, Raylan learns the truth about who killed the trooper and he also learns some dark truths about his father.

The Dish

At times I was a little disappointed, I really wanted Raylan and his ex-wife/babymama, Winona to figure out a way to make it work. I think they are good for each other, but Raylan showed his flaws, by not being honest with her and being a cad. Oh well.  I really loved the tenderness that Crowder has shown towards Arlo. One of the things I love about the show is that Crowder is a low down dirty dog, but I always find myself pulling for him when he is protecting his own.  I'm going to miss the character of Quarles. He was deliciously bad. But I have high hopes for Limehouse. I'm hoping they'll give us an opportunity to see the evil that was hinted at all season. I can’t wait for Season 4 to start.

The Directive

I’ve said this a thousand times before, If you are not, watching this television, you should be.

Raylan: You know what they're saying at the office? I dis-armed him.
Winona: That's pretty good
